Location was great and the rooms were clean and nice. Breakfast was good.
We booked a standard room and when we checked in, we were given a budget room. It is 10m2 at best and literally no room to put bags. We had to put bags on bed to use, and then on floor to sleep. Furthermore, it's below street level with only a tiny window in the top right corner which is on their doorstep so people walking in can see you. It is also underneath the staircase so every time someone enters or exits the hotel or walks on the stairs it makes noise in your room. All this would be ok if I'd paid less for the budget room but I didn'T. First they lied and said it was a standard room. When I showed them the pics of the budget room on hostel world and how it matched our room they said I was lucky to stay at their hotel because it was full. But all claimed they couldn't do anything, only the manager could. I asked 3 different people to speak to the manager but he/she never materialized. I was charged the full amount for a standard room and no amends, apology or discount. While I think this hotel is nice, it is dishonest. My advice would be to state upfront in your booking comments that you refuse to be placed in budget room on the lower floor. I would also say that there are many nicer hotels we stayed at in Istanbul and so I think there are better choices.
The hotel was newly renovated, but it felt cheap.
Almost everything... The day we arrived the manager told us we do not have a room for 2 days. The day before we arrived we received an email saying everything is fine and we are "welcome to come"... Lies. We asked if we can cancel and move to another hotel, but we were refused and told they will charge the full amount anyway. So what was the alternative they proposed?... They moved us to another hotel for the same money. The other hotel was appalling. We came back and ask again to cancel. But they refused again, but they promised they we take us to the airport for free. After two days they moved us back to the original hotel for the last three days(actually we had to move our luggage... That was a day missed) The original hotel was fine quite new, but the area was not great and the rooms really small. The breakfast was a joke... It was served 8-10 in the morning, but by 8:30 you would not find much to eat. We found mold on the melted cheese they served. And after lots and lots of lies in the last day they refused to take us to the airport as they promised, so we had to find an alternative in the last minute. For all distress they caused we were offered a 10 euro discount from the whole amount we had to pay... A joke. This was the worst holiday we ever had. The hotel manager is a liar. They look they are nice as long as they can take money from you, but the reality is they just want to trick you. THEY DID THIS TO OTHER PEOPLE TOO. THEY ARE OVERBOOKING THE HOTEL AND THAN THEY TRANSFER YOU TO A RUBBISH HOTEL WERE NO ONE IS GOING AND THEY CHARGE THE SAME MONEY! BE AWARE DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. YOUR HOLIDAY WILL BE RUINED. I normally do not write reviews, but this time was absolutely awful and we travel a lot and we never seen this behavior before. I wrote this just as a warring for other people not to fall in this trap... THE OVERBOOKING SCAM
Very small rooms. Very noisy (thin walls, noise from the street). Poor quality of furniture.
I was really amazed by how nice the stuff was... I got a room upgrade for so little... Everything clean in the upgraded room... I can't say nothing about the other rooms cause I didn't have the opportunity to stay... The sea mara mara view was beautiful!
I couldn't find something I didn't like, maybe it's a little tricky to find the hotel, that's all the problems I could find so far...
The proximity to the sight seeing locations like the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. I also liked the cordial staff and the clean newly decorated rooms. My stay was pleasant
My wife found the bathroom small
Il personale si inventa la scusa che devono trasferirti in un altro hotel li vicino x spillarti 30 euro in più al giorno. Assolutamente sconsigliato, cambiate struttura se volete visitare Istanbul
The room was big enough and clean, bathroom was small but with the big shower, we did not leave towels on the floor but they were replaced daily anyway. The bed was super comfy and long which was good for my tall husband, though we had 2 single mattresses on one double base, not the double mattress. The wardrobe was big and deep enough to accommodate all the clothes and big suitcase. The hotel is very close to all the sightseeing points and is 10 min climb or descend from Sultanahmet tram stop (the one that is closer, Cembelitas, is closed for repair). The staff recommended us an amazing place to eat the first night and ordered a free transfer to/from there. There is always someone at the reception to help. The whole stay was very quiet, though the hotel was fully occupied. We had a feeling of being alone there. We booked the hotel during an offer, and it was really the value for money.
The neighborhood looks awful, though it is only 2 streets down from the main street where the tram goes. There is a small mosque across the street, and on Thursday its loudspeaker was on at 6 o’clock in the morning, and you could feel the noise from the street even with the windows closed. The sound insulation between the rooms is excellent, from the outside is absent. Be ready to rude early awakenings if your windows face the street. The breakfast was quite poor; they had no hot food like omelet or sausages which are common for all the hotels. The coffee at the breakfast was a jar of instant Nescafe. This is Turkey – where is the famous Turkish coffee??? Tv had only local channels. We had 1 single and 1 double bed in the room instead of 1 double, and this rearrangement occupied extra space and blocked the light switches and sockets. The staff at the hotel cheated us (no other word can describe it) during check out – they demanded to pay them for the taxi they called for us from the hotel to the airport (not the taxi itself), we had to pay in cash not by card, and as a result of their “exchange rates” we paid 64 Eur instead of 55. The same was with the mini bar (cash only). We had no time to argue as we had to leave to the airport.
Staff were friendly and helpful and service were excellent
I would prefer to eat simit in the breakfast
wi-fi is very-very slow, breakfast is average, room is small but clean and tidy
Great room, fantastic breakfast, helpful staff. Close to blue mosque.
Really nice location: centered but away from noisy streets. Good view to the sea.
Fungus in the bathroom, all round the shower (( and generally the bathroom was poorly cleaned: stains on the sink, gray towels..
Everything was perfect. Staff as usuall very friendly and helpfull.
Excellent staff. Very friendly personnel, always ready and willing to help. Despite the fact that many people don't speak international languages, the hotel manager speaks very fluent english. I was very positively surprised when, by the time I've got close to the hotel, the taxi driver couldn't find the street so I called the hotel. Next minute a staff member appeared next to us on a motorcycle and rode in front of us to show us the way.
There are almost no negative things to say. Maybe it would be good if they extend the breakfast hours; 8 to 10 is a bit short.
Great location and staff very nice. Pictures on Booked.net are very accurate, very clean and nice breakfast. Fast Internet
The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location is good in the old city part of Istanbul. The rooms are very small but well furnished and extremely clean. The budget room is in the basement which means it has very small window. It is not worth the $ 10 savings. My room was on the top floor so had large windows and was very cheerful. The breakfast was incredibly good, as good or better than the buffet breakfast at the hotel provided by my tour group. There were some 20 or 25 different items-- cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, many different fresh and dried fruits, bread, yogurt, cereals, meat, bread, hard boiled eggs. If you ask, they will cook eggs for you.
My only comment is that the double bed room was very small. I noticed that the twin bed room was bigger. The friendly staff, attractive room, comfortable bed and cleanliness were more important to me than the size of the room so I had no complaints.
